About the role

Pay rate, benefits and other terms and conditions are as per the OPSEU 662 Collective Agreement

The successful applicant will be assigned to a primary area but expected to assist in other clinical areas as required. Rotations occur on a regular basis to enhance and maintain skill levels. Within the organization, the physiotherapist’s main role is to provide assessment, treatment, education and onward referral to patients and their caregivers to achieve patient centred goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Registration with College of Physiotherapists of Ontario required

  • Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (recent within the last twelve months)

  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate required (training delivered by Health Centre upon hire)

  • Two years of experience in an acute care setting is required

Skills/Abilities:

  • Required participation in inter-professional rounds, meetings, family conferences, and discharge planning

  • Responsible for the supervision of therapy assistants, liaising with external professionals and the mentorship/supervision of colleagues and students as is appropriate

  • Excellent interpersonal skills required

  • Excellent communication skills required

  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation – Basic required

  • Good attendance and work record required

  • Authorizer with ADP an asset

  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensure their safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors

  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization

  • Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is an asset.

The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique healthcare organization with three primary roles. It provides acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, it is the district referral centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it is the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario

NBRHC has 389 beds and numerous outpatient and outreach services in North Bay and throughout the northeast region.

NBRHC is one of four major acute care hospitals serving northeast Ontario; the others being Sault Area Hospital, Timmins and District Hospital and Health Sciences North (Sudbury). The area is also served by small community hospitals like Mattawa and West Nipissing General hospitals.

NBRHC’s Regional Mental Health Services provides inpatient beds in North Bay and Sudbury and outpatient and outreach services that throughout the region—from Hudson Bay to Muskoka from Sault Ste. Marie to the Quebec border.
