The Opportunity: As a Junior Business Unit Accountant, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented accounting team in support of KCB’s Mining Environmental Group (“MEG”). Reporting to the Accounting Team Lead, this individual will be responsible for a variety of project and business unit accounting functions in collaboration with other members of the finance and accounting team as well as regional office managers. This role will give you the opportunity to: Ensure project-related invoicing is processed accurately and in a timely manner. Oversee and coordinate all project accounting activities including time transfers, project revenue adjustments and non-chargeable effort for designated projects. Set up and close projects, bill rate, budgets, change order maintenance. Assist in preparing monthly project and expense analysis reports. Follow up WIP and A/R weekly. Process project expenses. Review employee expense reports and vendor invoices for projects. Collaborating with Project Manager to identify solutions to streamline work. Prepare and enter journal entries as required. Maintain project related documentation and requirements including contracts, addendums, modifications of purchase and service orders. Assist with continuous improvements and execute changes on all aspects of project accounting. Escalate problems with appropriate discretion and expedite resolution to any issues. Maintain strong working relationships with project team members and project managers. Other duties as assigned. What We Require: A degree or diploma in accounting. Previous experience in project accounting is considered an asset. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail. Great problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently, effectively and accurately in a fast-paced environment. Good verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact collaboratively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Ability to multitask and collaborate with other team members to meet deliverables and timelines. Proficient in MS Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience using ERP project accounting systems. Previous accounting experience with an engineering consulting company is an asset. Understand GAAP and accounting controls. What's Offered The salary for this position is $55,000 to $65,000 per year. The salary is based on applicable experience, education, and skill level.
