Scope of Position:

The position of Safety Services Lead includes managing current budget, revenue growth, profitability, and operational performance of the Services department. Additional responsibilities include supervising, providing direction, and overseeing the technical service work being performed by the Service Center. Ensuring that positive customer relations are maintained and that issues are addressed in a timely and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works with Branch Manager & Vallen Safety Services Corporate Management to operate a profitable Service Center.
  • Responsible for soliciting new business opportunities, finding, and executing RFP's and RFQ's and growing existing accounts. Responsible to use a customer relationship management tool to track sales opportunities.
  • Initiates all personnel functions including hiring, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating associates.
  • Supervises scheduling and service work coordination with technicians and customers.
  • Performs periodic audits of technician service work to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Along with the assigned Territory or National Account Manager, own and manage Vallen's top safety services customers for the assigned region. Visits regularly with Customer contacts to verify customer satisfaction and to resolve any service-related issues. Present quarterly and annual business reviews to assigned accounts.
  • Ensures that operational issues such as invoicing, service tracking, and customer and compliance reporting, are performed in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance to all Vallen Standard operating procedures and ISO requirements.
  • Maintains a high degree of knowledge regarding Vallen's overall business systems strategies and objectives.
  • Follows all standards, procedures, and regulations set forth by Vallen or other applicable parties, as related to technical services being performed to be in complete compliance with regulations.
  • Ensures that the quality and integrity of the services the technicians are providing is of the highest caliber.
  • Provides technical support to the Service Technicians on an as needed basis.
  • Maintains the proper parts inventory.
  • Contributes to team efforts to improve the organization's efficiency and effectiveness as a participant in team building and group problem solving sessions.
  • Responsible for staffing, training / development, and employee reviews.
  • Attends and participates in designated training programs to maintain a high level of required knowledge.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested.
  • Working closely with the Branch Manager and assisting with other branch functions as required.
  • Read, understand, and follow Vallen's health, safety, and environment policies and all applicable OH&S legislation/regulations
  • Actively participate in Vallen's health and safety management system, including training, audits, assessments, safety meetings, and inspections
  • Identify, control, and report workplace hazards including following WHMIS/TDG requirements and reporting near misses
  • Report workplace injuries immediately and participate in any return-to-work programs or requirements
  • Be fit for duty and physically capable of performing all required tasks
  • Other duties as required.

Education and Training:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • College/University Diploma recommended (Technical focus preferred)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
  • Previous service management (3 to 5 years) experience
  • Previous management experience is an asset (if possible).
  • Previous sales experience is required. Must be comfortable presenting and selling to all levels of business contacts.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Current motor vehicle license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to operate a computer and possess strong software knowledge (MS Office, etc.).
  • Ability to operate in a professional and competent manner reflective of Vallen's professional and technical standards.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated and able to work independently when required.
  • Proficient with hand tools.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Product knowledge of industrial safety services.
