YMCA House Team Leader- 24 Hours provides leadership and oversight of Emergency Shelter Services, ensuring a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for youth. The role balances strategic responsibilities, such as aligning programs with quality standards and organizational priorities, with hands-on operational oversight, including staff guidance and daily program delivery. It fosters team development, collaboration, and accountability while supporting continuous improvement. By combining leadership and day-to-day management, the position directly impacts both staff effectiveness and youth well-being.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the part-time staff team at Emergency Shelter Services to achieve strategic results.
- Provide strategic leadership and monitor team building and cohesiveness.
- Evaluate current protocols and practices, and create and maintain processes for implementation and execution.
- Support the Director in monitoring and achieving contractual obligations, program targets, and Association Standards.
- Assist the Director in the development and implementation of yearly program plans, marketing, promotions, and outreach.
- Ensure quarterly, interim, and annual funding reporting to the City of Toronto for financial accountability to funding bodies.
- Liaise with the Director on operational and policy issues and provide regular updates.
- Assess and coordinate training opportunities for team members and maintain a current training/certification list.
- Supervise the part-time staff team, including scheduling and attendance, staff meetings, coaching, and development.
- Assist the Director in recruiting, training, and orienting new staff.
- Provide support in ongoing program evaluation and quality control.
- Participate in the compilation of internal (e.g., Member counts, Program counts, and month-end) and external reports (e.g., quarterly reports, proposals) and statistical data.
- Provide ongoing program evaluation of health and safety practices and quality standards to ensure compliance with the City of Toronto Shelter Standards and that contractual obligations are met and, where possible, exceeded.
- Monitor SMIS admission/discharge data, including case note documentation, and ensure data integrity and quality audit measures are achieved in accordance with YMCA and city standards.
- Adhere to all YMCA House protocols and practices, as well as Association and other relevant policies and procedures.
- Participate in individual supervision, staff meetings, case reviews, and committees as required.
- Perform on-call duties, responding to emergencies, incidents, and critical issues.
- Provide administrative support to ensure program obligations are met, including ordering office supplies and materials as directed.
- Coordinate scheduling for hourly and on-call staff, maintain attendance records, and submit required documentation on a monthly basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

You bring:
- Post-secondary education in Counselling, Social/Community Work, Social Services, Human Services Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Minimum 1-year experience within a Team Lead or another semi-supervisory/leadership role.
- Minimum of two years counselling, file management, and group facilitation experience an asset.
- 2+ years of professional experience, preferably working with marginalized youth, an asset.
- Proven ability to lead a team and develop team members into productive functional members.
- Proficient with personal computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet search engines.
- Knowledge of The Shelter Management Information System (SMIS) an asset.
- Knowledge and ability to integrate anti-oppression, 2SLGBTQIA+ and trans-positivity, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and strengths-based principles into practice.
- Knowledge of transitional, shelter, and other housing systems in Toronto, and the ability to assist youth transitioning into adulthood through developmentally appropriate support.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
- Strong administration skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills, including the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with members, staff, and volunteers, and excellent written communication skills.
- Effective problem-solving abilities, along with energy, enthusiasm, dedication, flexibility, and a willingness to learn.
- Flexibility regarding assigned work hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid Driver's License for travel within the city to perform duties.
- Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or valid exemption required.
- Excellent understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging including the ability to identify and address barriers, work effectively with diverse stakeholders, and integrate equity into program design.
