Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520(range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive academic training and post graduate coursework in the following areas: students with special needs; assessment/testing theory and practice (Level B); strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as outlined in the Manual of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines for Special Education Services.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in being able to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, administration and interpretation of Level B Assessments including the WIAT, PPVT, Key Math and TOWL.
  • Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials suitable for students with a variety of special needs and learning disabilities.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of IEPs in consultation with the classroom teacher(s), parent(s), student and district personnel.
  • demonstrated experience and ability in being able to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, administration and interpretation of Level B Assessments including the WIAT, PPVT, and Key Math as well as the newest KLST
  • demonstrated experience in and knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials suitable for students with a variety of special needs and learning disabilities
  • knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of CBIEPs in consultation with the classroom teacher(s), parent(s), student and district personnel
  • training, experience and qualifications working in an elementary Learning Assistance assignment, including effective small group Tier 2 and 3 support
  • elementary classroom teaching experience and knowledge of the K-5 curricular outcomes, including awareness of and experience working with the First Peoples Principles of Learning
  • knowledge of and demonstrated ability in addressing the wide range of academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs of children
  • demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills
  • demonstrated experience and working knowledge of MyEd and eINSIGHT
  • commitment to the philosophy of Collaborative Teaming, including a willingness to chair and coordinate School Based Team/Care Team meetings
  • knowledge and proven ability in effective classroom management and excellent organization skills
  • commitment and willingness to implement PBS and school-wide initiatives that support a student-centered philosophy
  • demonstrated willingness to implement the goals and strategies of the school growth plan
  • demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues in developing targeted interventions and programs for students with a range of unique and diverse learning needs
  • commitment to and engagement in lifelong professional and personal learning
  • demonstrated experience and ability in PM benchmarks and integrating a reading program to increase reading levels for various levels.
