Human Resources Specialist

About the role

The HR Specialist will be responsible for significantly serving CFP employees and supporting the Senior Human Resource Manager by managing key areas of the employee experience – including talent acquisition, employee relations, policy implementation and compliance. This role works closely with managers, employee and the HR team to ensure HR operations run smoothly and in alignment with company values and goals.

  • Payroll administration.

  • Maintain accurate personnel file management utilizing HRIS/Ultipro system ensuring legal compliance and confidentiality.

  • Support the full-cycle recruiting process: job postings, screening, interviews, offers.

  • Onboards new employees through HRIS/Ultipro ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Conduct “On Boarding” New Hire Orientation with new employees including Prohibition of Harassment & Discrimination training.

  • Assist new hires with logging into cfpOne and completing benefit elections within first 30 days of employment.

  • Assists with employee password resets.

  • Schedules, attends and presents at meetings (ex. Plant wide) on their own or with Sr. HR Manager.

  • Assist with employee questions or concerns pertaining to benefits, policies, and procedures, etc.

  • Administers all FMLA/LOA/STD processes.

  • Assists with worker’s compensation claim management.

  • Coordination of employee engagement events.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the HR team.

  • Engage with employees regularly in the mill environment.

Other duties and projects are assigned to meet CFP’s Mission and Purpose.

Qualification and Educational Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of HR or related experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and MS Office suite.
  • Work effectively in a team.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) a plus
