About the Role
Country 99 is looking for a vibrant, creative, and energetic on-air personality to take the mic for our afternoon drive show in Winnipeg.
This is a rare opportunity to join a team of unique and talented broadcasters who are passionate about creating unforgettable radio and digital content.
You’ll be the voice our listeners turn to every afternoon, engaging them with topical, entertaining, and authentic content, both on-air and across social and digital platforms.
From delivering a live show five days a week, to connecting with fans in the community, you’ll be a key part of the Country 99 brand.
You will contribute by:
- Hosting a fun, engaging, and well-paced afternoon drive show that connects us with our audience.
- Generating topical, creative, and local content that resonates with country music fans.
- Creating and executing a live show, five days a week, with strong preparation and pacing.
- Using MusicMaster for music scheduling and merging music logs.
- Collaborating with the team to create memorable moments on radio, social media, and community events.
- Driving audience engagement through innovative social media strategies and local storytelling.
- Representing Country 99 at promotional appearances, remote broadcasts, and community events, including work with key local sports partnerships.
- Contributing ideas that help grow listenership and revenue opportunities.
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in Journalism, Broadcasting, Radio/Television Arts, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Proven experience as an on-air announcer, ideally in a major or competitive market.
- Previous work in a country’s music format is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with MusicMaster and music log merging.
- Strong on-air presence with exceptional engagement skills on radio, text, and social platforms.
- Proficiency with broadcast tools and technology to deliver a tight, well-produced show.
- Video and audio recording/editing skills, with the ability to create high-quality content from a mobile device.
- The ability to deliver bold, authentic, and relatable content that matters to our local country fans.
- Comfort and enthusiasm for community involvement and remote broadcasts.
- Demonstrated creativity and a proven track record of building a strong social media presence.
- Passion for the country music format and its audience.
