About the role
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee production operations of assigned shift, ensure overall compliance with quality, safety, operational policies, and procedures to ensure employee safety and product/food safety
- Prepare work schedules to ensure properly staffed and efficient operations to meet production goals
- Plan, direct and coordinate activities to ensure production goals achieved
- Ensure all employees comply with policies, safety procedures, HACCP program and GMP’s, wearing proper PPE
- Coordinate with training to ensure all employees receive proper training for assigned duties; work to cross-train staff to support absences within the department
- Conduct regular team meetings to review production needs and overall expectations of the team, engage employees in process improvement
- Post performance goals in department to ensure awareness of expectations and recognize accomplishments
- Address performance issues or policies violations; conduct initial incident investigation, engage with HR and Production Manager as needed
- Troubleshoot and resolve downtime issues that arise; coordinate with peers and maintenance as needed
- Issue work orders for equipment repairs, coordinate with maintenance regarding downtime of equipment
- Develop, maintain, evaluate, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPI’s)
- Complete daily production reports
- Evaluate data, organize, and present to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and savings initiatives.
- Support other team members as necessary, cover absences
- Prepare performance evaluation information for your team
- Ensure consistent compliance with customer standards, safety/OSHA, and quality standards/HACCP and GMP standards
- Operate within the Blommer core values of respect and care for others
- Ensure SAP data and Redzone are accurately maintained during the shift. Note: The employer reserves the right to change or assign other duties to this position Physical Requirements:
- Majority of time in production work environment
- Requires frequent periods of walking, standing, bending, climbing
- May occasionally lift, push, pull and carry minimal weights
- Exposed to heat, cold, noise, dust - must wear hearing protection, safety shoes, hair/beard net, uniform Safety, Quality and Hygiene Requirements:
- Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and code of conduct
- Comply with workplace uniform requirements and safety gear, when on the plant floor v. office Performance Expectations:
- Manage product operation with a high set of standards to produce consistent, quality-driven results
- Ensures work hours and schedules, timely attendance, and notice requirements for absences or lateness are met
- Promote a positive attitude and a sense of curiosity in learning new roles and responsibilities
- Instill a culture of leadership and engagement of team to achieve performance expectations
- Knowledge and understanding of production operations and machinery
- Ability to solve problems independently and implement solutions, prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate Skills and Work Experience Requirements:
- Three (3+) years’ experience in manufacturing operations and business management, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
- Two (2+) years’ experience in a leadership role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills with ability to meet deadlines
- Two years’ prior work experience at company preferred
- Strong safety and quality background
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite abilities to complete reports and logs
