NVIT anticipates a need for a Term Instructor within the Bachelor of Social Work program and invites applications from qualified candidates. The NVIT BSW degree program is the only Indigenous-centered BSW program in BC, this will be a sessional term opportunity. This will be an online course offering and will commence in May 2026 during the summer semester.
2026 Summer – Online
SOCW 340 – Social Work and Healthcare

- Possess a minimum of a Master’s of Social Work Degree (MSW), Doctorate preferred PhD
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience at a college or university level
- Experience in classroom teaching and learning practices with Indigenous adult learners
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Indigenous social work theory, policy and practice
- Strong team player with excellent human relation skills – faculty members are expected to contribute positively to the life of the school and community
- Ability to develop strong connections to Indigenous social service agencies and communities
- Experience in Hybrid Learning platforms including Moodle, Teams, and Microsoft Office.
- Practice from a holistic, culturally safe and trauma-informed lens;
- Knowledge of and appreciation for Indigenous languages and cultures, and Indigenous lived experiences;
- Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships to achieve outcomes in the best interest of students and NVIT;
- A demonstrated commitment to quality service to students and the public;
