Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, the Supervisor, Clinical Systems & Data Management Services plays a critical role in ensuring the effective operation and strategic management of all clinical software systems, privacy and security, scheduling, and data management services for the Oral Health Clinic (OHC) and Satellite Clinics.

The Supervisor oversees a team that supports a suite of specialized clinical applications while ensuring robust data governance and integrity. They will be responsible for maintaining the school’s Electronic Health Records (EHR) involving the accurate capture and secure storage of all patient and clinical records to mitigate privacy risk and maintain security through strict compliance with regulatory frameworks (e.g., HIA, POPA, AITA).

  • Oversee the maintenance, configuration, and integration of core clinical software systems

  • Facilitate the planning and execution of major system migrations, upgrades, and "go-live" events including developing contingency plans and managing change control.

  • Serve as the technical liaison with software vendors to manage upgrades, troubleshoot complex faults, and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain efficient, standardized scheduling policies and procedures across all clinical programs and services.

  • Establish and enforce rigorous standards for data integrity, security, and backup for all clinical systems, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.

  • Lead and coordinate audits related to HIA/POPA compliance, data security, and EHR system access controls.

  • Perform supervisory duties which includes performance management, coaching, providing feedback, conflict resolution and the delivery of annual performance reviews.

  • Post-secondary education in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or lead role, particularly in a healthcare or clinical setting.

  • Minimum 18 months of extensive, hands-on experience with the administration and support of specialized clinical software.

  • Strong understanding of data management principles, data security protocols (e.g. IST’s IT Security Policy), and privacy legislation (e.g. HIA, POPA, AITA)

This position is subject to all applicable terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the Governors of the University of Alberta and the Non-Academic Staff Association (NASA).
