ABOUT COMPASS Compass Construction Resources Ltd. is a construction company specializing in complex renovations, additions, building system retrofits, construction management, general contracting, and design-build projects across Southern Ontario and the GTA. THE ROLE This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to kickstart or build their accounting career in a real-world, hands-on environment. You will join a small, focused finance team and quickly take ownership of core accounting functions including accounts payable, vendor processing, bank reconciliations, statutory remittances, job costing support, and month-end close preparation. You will work directly with the Department Lead, receive on-the-job training, and grow your skills in a company that invests in its people. WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Own the full accounts payable function: vendor invoices, coding, approval routing, aged payables review, and payment-run preparation
- Process recurring vendor invoices and utility/service costs
- Support accounts receivable as directed by the Department Lead
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and maintain clean support for review
- Prepare statutory remittance support: HST, WSIB, EHT, union remittances, payroll, and benefits
- Prepare job cost accrual (JCR) support and project cost allocations
- Assist with monthly financial package and management reporting support
- Maintain checklist status, evidence folders, and audit-ready support
- Assist with annual filings and year-end support
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, and/or business (required)
- Minimum 1 year of accounting experience preferred — recent graduates with strong accounting foundations are welcome
- Strong Excel skills: lookups, pivot tables, SUMIFS, and reconciliations
- Exposure to A/P, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end support
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet recurring deadlines
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to adapt to any situation
- Experience with a payroll module or A/P module in any accounting system is an asset
