We are looking for a creative, dynamic person to lead the programming and audio teams at CBC Toronto. As Executive Producer you will lead all of our current affairs program teams and oversee any special programming, such as on-site remotes, breaking news live coverage events and planned specials. You manage the development and scheduling of staff. You guide and support on-air talent. You are committed to developing relationships and content in underrepresented communities.

Key Tasks:
- Responsible for overseeing the development and review of all CBC Toronto radio programs, podcasts, and emerging content formats.
- Responsible for the development and coaching of hosts, journalists and leaders as it relates to strategic content development.
- Identifies and develops emerging talent within and outside of CBC News.
- Reviews and redevelops existing local properties, working closely with program teams to align with strategic goals, conducting structured program reviews and redevelopment plans.
- Provides regular feedback to employees.
- Makes daily staffing and scheduling decisions.
- Co-ordinates, programs and executes live and breaking news specials.
- Closely monitors audience and industry trends, and develops ideas and approaches positioned against future content opportunities.
- Highly skilled in audio, video, digital and social content production.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
- Demonstrated talent as a programmer with an ear for pacing, tone, presentation and production.
- Proven experience identifying, mentoring and developing on-air talent.
- Highly developed writing, vetting, and production skills.
- Passion for local storytelling and the ability to identify relevant, audience-focused stories, which reflect issues being discussed by people in the GTA.
- Experience leading teams through periods of significant change.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and adapt to audience trends and data.
- Advanced critical thinking skills.
- Strong understanding of CBC’s journalistic standards and practices and their applications in a wide variety of contexts.
- Quick to react and respond to breaking stories.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise both quick editorial judgement and long term strategic planning.
- Proven ability to foster a vibrant and inclusive team culture.
- A mindset of continuous learning and constant evolution.
- Experience planning long term projects, organizing logistics and juggling resources against strategic goals.
- Highly developed organizational skills.
Additional Requirements:
- University degree or equivalent.
- Ten (10) years’ experience of which five must involve leading program teams in a major market
- Ability to work flexible hours as required, including weekends on call.
- This position requires you to work in the CBC Toronto office full-time.
