COMPANY OVERVIEW
The Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) is a joint venture owned by three Prairie centrals created to digitally transform and modernize payment services for credit unions in the Prairies. PPJV’s goal is to ensure prairie credit unions are competitive in payments and have access to efficient, modernized payments processing infrastructure.
ROLE SUMMARY:
Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) is undergoing a payments modernization initiative and requires an experienced Business Analyst who has experience in payments services and particularly, electronic funds transfers and real-time payments or ancillary products/services as required.
At Prairie Payments Joint Venture Business Analysts (BA) conduct comprehensive business analysis of the organization’s business/technical operations. These highly analytical specialists have both business and technical expertise. Duties include analyzing requirements, estimating the cost, and establishing system protocols. The Business Analyst will assess every aspect of our daily business/technical operations. For this position, BA’s will examine existing and new systems for improvement, report common issues, evaluate company performance, and recommend new system procedures.
To excel in this position, the BA should be an experienced professional with in-depth knowledge of business processes and business system analysis techniques. The ideal candidate will also be dedicated and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Analysis & Delivery Support
- Support business analysis activities for modernization, enhancement, and regulatory initiatives under the guidance of senior analysts or project leads.
- Translate business needs into clear, well-documented requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives and solution design.
- Work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to clarify scope, assumptions, and dependencies.
Requirements & Documentation
- Elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements for payment systems and integration initiatives.
- Develop process flows, use cases, user stories, acceptance criteria, and basic data mappings.
- Assist with gap analysis across people, process, systems, and data to identify risks and impacts.
- Participate in workshops, stakeholder interviews, and working sessions to gather input and validate understanding.
- Maintain traceability between business requirements and delivered solutions.
- Support design reviews, solution validation, and implementation planning to ensure business outcomes are met.
- Collaborate closely with QA and operations teams to ensure test coverage, traceability, and readiness.
- Support deployment and post implementation reviews, ensuring operational alignment and business satisfaction.
- Participate in both Agile and Waterfall project lifecycles, adapting deliverables and documentation accordingly.
- Contribute to project planning, estimation, and risk management activities.
- Contributes to the BA Centre of Excellence.
Payments & Data Expertise

Develop working knowledge of Canadian payment systems such as:
- Lynx (LVTS)
- ACSS
- ISO 20022

Payments Canada rules and standards

Support data analysis and mapping between source and target systems.

Stay informed on payments modernization initiatives and emerging industry trends, with guidance from senior team members.
Continuous Improvements & Governance
- Contribute ideas for process improvements, documentation standards, and analytical best practices.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date requirements, workflows, and supporting artifacts.
- Participate in knowledge sharing within the Business Analysis team.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively across business and technical teams.
- Willingness to learn complex payment and financial environments.
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks with guidance and prioritization support.
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.

3–5 years of business analysis experience, preferably within financial services, payments, or technology environments.

Foundational understanding of Canadian payment systems or experience in payments technologies
-
Experience supporting system enhancements, integrations, or regulatory initiatives.
-
Business analysis certification (e.g., ECBA, CBAP, PMI-PBA) is an asset.
-
Experience in a credit union or cooperative financial environment is an advantage.
-
Experience in various core financial institutions banking functions.
-
Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
-
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-
Highly analytical mindset.
