Key Qualifications:
- Registered to practice with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Certified Hand Therapist credential preferred
- Membership in a profession specific association preferred
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience in treating hand and upper extremity injuries and conditions in an ambulatory care setting – both surgical and non-surgical
- Experienced in upper extremity mobilization techniques and splinting
- Experience or willingness to develop expertise to support care for diverse populations with MSK and/or neurological (Mild TBI/concussion) and apply Occupational Therapy skills across practice areas to support operational needs and coverage.
- Experience with functional ability evaluation, return to work strategies, work conditioning and pain management considered an asset
- Experience working with various populations (i.e.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, time management, organizational skills and communication skills – including report writing skills
- Demonstrates the ability to work on a dynamic, inter-disciplinary team and with community partners as well as the ability to adapt to changing operational and patient care needs
- Demonstrates effective communication skills, excellent organizational skills and can be self-directed in a fast-paced working environment
- Commitment to exceptional client centered care and continuous learning
- Previous experience and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with Occupational Therapist Assistants
- Experience as liaison with third party providers such as WSIB and Insurance providers is an asset
- Experience conducting work simulation programs is an asset Experience with developing treatment plans to address psychosocial stressors and rehabilitation planning including return work focus is an asset
Position Summary:
- As a dependable clinician in providing Occupational Therapy services, I can assume new caseloads comfortably and competently
- As an active member of an interdisciplinary team is responsible for providing Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment for patients
- Work collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary team including physiotherapists, psychotherapists, and psychologists.
- Provides Occupational Therapy services in keeping with the College guidelines and Essential Competencies, for clients with deficits in areas of occupational performance
- Participates in Professional Practice meetings as required
- Supervises support personnel, students and volunteers as appropriate Participates in program planning, continuous quality improvement and evaluation, thereby contributing to the overall vision/mandate of Trillium Health Centre and Occupational Therapy Services
