Job Description In business for over 50 years, Ocean Steel’s Rebar Division cuts, bends and installs reinforcing steel for poured-in-placed concrete work. Ocean Steel Rebar’s plant capacity is currently 10,000+ tons. Estimating, detailing, shop scheduling, tagging and shipping is performed using a computerized production management system. Rebar shop drawings are prepared using the latest 3D CAD technology to CSA, CRSI and ASTM specifications. Rebar is installed using in-house or subcontracted field crews depending on the project requirements. Projects have been completed projects in various regions of Canada and Bermuda.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing construction sites for rebar installation.
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine rebar placement and requirements. (Blueprint knowledge is not required to start)
- Position and secure rebar, mesh, rods, and cables in concrete forms.
- Tie rebar together using wire and pliers.
- Ensure proper alignment and spacing of rebar and mesh.
- Clean and organize work areas to maintain safety and efficiency.
Requirements
- This position requires you to travel to various locations - a car is required
- Ability to lift, carry, and move rebar bundles (50 lbs) repeatedly throughout the day
- This position requires a lot of bending, and repetitive tasks for extended periods
- Tolerance for heat, cold, rain, snow, and other weather conditions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
