About the role

Holland Power Services is seeking an experienced Lead Truck Mechanic to join and guide our IR Division team in Iroquois, ON. This leadership role is critical to ensuring the readiness and reliability of our fleet of heavy trucks and utility vehicles, enabling rapid mobilization during storm and emergency power restoration events.

The Lead Mechanic is part of the Corporate Fleet team, ensuring that all maintenance and inspection schedules follow the standards prescribed by the Director of Fleet. This role reports directly to the General Manager of the Iroquois Division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the work of mechanics and apprentices within the IR Division.

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and utility vehicles (e.g., bucket trucks, diggers).

  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

  • Oversee and conduct safety and compliance inspections in accordance with MTO standards and ensure CVOR compliance.

  • Follow prescribed corporate fleet maintenance schedules as set by the Director of Fleet.

  • Maintain accurate fleet maintenance records and ensure documentation is compliant for audits.

  • Ensure all vehicles are in a state of readiness for rapid deployment during emergency events.

  • Schedule and prioritize shop workload to support operational demands.

  • Provide technical training and mentorship to team members.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation during storm season and provide leadership during mobilization efforts.

  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions as required.

Qualifications

  • Licensed 310T Truck & Coach Technician (or equivalent Red Seal certification).
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and vehicle electrical systems.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or mentorship experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid Ontario DZ or AZ driver’s license with air brake endorsement.
  • Strong diagnostic skills with modern electronic systems and hydraulic controls.
  • Familiarity with MTO inspection standards and CVOR compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting utility fleets or emergency response mobilization is an asset.
  • Must possess a valid passport and have a clear criminal record.
  • Must complete a pre-employment drug test and participate in a random drug & alcohol testing pool.
  • Physically capable of:
    • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
    • Working under vehicles and in awkward positions
    • Standing, kneeling, or crouching for extended periods
    • Performing tasks outdoors in all weather conditions
