This position is intended for work on Forest Protection Limited’s (FPL)research and design projects. TheEngineerinTraining****(EIT)will report directly to aRegistered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGNB, providing the opportunity to gain recognized professional engineering experience.
TheEIT Summer Positionprovides exposure to all stages of research, engineering design, testing, and field validation. Under the supervision of a P.Eng., the EIT will contribute to the development, improvement, and evaluation of FPL systems, equipment, processes, and technologies. This role supports both technical and operational work, offering handson experience in engineering analysis, prototype development, data collection, documentation, and field implementation.
This is afastpaced****and technically diverse role, providing handson engineering experience across multiple disciplines while contributing to innovative projects that support FPL’s mission and operational excellence.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Assist in the production and development of 3D designs using software such as SolidWorks, and Shapr3D.
- Support the development of Single Line Diagrams, and other schematics.
- Provide formal recommendations on electrical and mechanical hardware.
- Assist in the development of project budgets, offering discipline- specific insights.
- Contribute to the writing of course of action documents to guide decision making related to hardware, software, and mechanical components for FPL’s projects.
- Assist in the design of circuits, power systems, sensors, signal processors, motor control, control systems, and PCB design.
- Participate in the prototype iteration process, contributing to testing, improvements, and redesigns.
- Develop technical documentation, including specifications, construction instructions and user manuals. W
- Other job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Actively studying Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.

Special attention to those in the second half of their degree.

Consideration will be given to adjacent engineering disciplines, including mechanical engineering, systems engineering, computer science, chemical or process engineering, etc.

Demonstratable experience in programming is an asset, Python, C# or C++.

Demonstratable experience working withmicrocontrollers, such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or equivalent platforms.
