One of a network provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.
We are currently seeking 1 FTE Registered Practical Nurse – Ontario Telemedicine. The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) OTN, as a valuable member of the Community Health Centre team, will support Ontario Telemedicine (OTN) services for the Thunder Bay, Armstrong, Kakabeka (Longlac site as required) and related virtual client care needs. This role includes providing education with staff on core operational needs of Health and Safety and Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC). This is a full time position working 35 hours per week/70 hours every 2 weeks.

Eligible for the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN) that provides $25,000 in grant funding to eligible nurses in exchange for a 2 year commitment. Click here for eligibility criteria
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current College of Nurses of Ontario registration.
- Minimum 5 years current nursing experience.
- Ability to work both independently, and collaboratively, within inter professional care team environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and group facilitation skills.
- Creative, innovative and ability to problem solve issues as they arise.
- Experience working within the health care setting as well as flexibility to respond to fluctuating workload and changing environment.
- Respects and values the diversity of communities and individuals.
- Awareness and sensitivity to socio-economic and cultural issues
- Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within populations who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured).
- Demonstrated ability to de-escalate conflict.
- Basic understanding of the field of telemedicine.
- Knowledge of change management, ability to lead and initiate projects.
- Experience in an Occupational Health and Safety Setting
- Certificate in Infection Control.
- High degree of comfort with electronic charting and proficient with technology.
- Current driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.
