Summary:
Miller Waste Systems is currently seeking a highly organized and proactive Claims Administrator to join our Legal team on a temporary basis at our Markham office. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong administrative and communication skills, and a keen interest in insurance claims management. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and entering data into our claims system, supporting the evaluation and resolution of motor vehicle and property-related incidents, and ensuring compliance with insurance reporting requirements. You will work closely with internal departments, external stakeholders, and our insurance partners, while contributing to the overall efficiency and professionalism of the claims process.

Responsibilities:
As a Claims Administrator, your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Providing administrative support to the Claims team
  • Assisting with the management and evaluation of motor vehicle and property-related incidents and claims in a timely and effective manner
  • Identifying and fulfilling insurance reporting requirements
  • Coordinating claim resolution efforts with insurers
  • Communicating directly with claimants in a professional and respectful manner
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to gather and document relevant incident information
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in the claims management system
  • Assisting in the assessment of insurance coverage and liability issues
  • Supporting the Insurance and Claims Manager and Claims Clerks as needed
  • Ensuring deadlines are met and documentation is complete
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • College diploma or university degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic understanding of the Insurance Act of Ontario; knowledge of Manitoba Public Insurance, Nova Scotia, and/or New Brunswick insurance regulations is an asset
  • Familiarity with various types of claims including Direct Compensation Property Damage, Accident Benefits, Loss Transfer, Commercial General Liability (CGL), and Bodily Injury is an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret insurance policies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Availability during regular business hours
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a resolution-oriented mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional and diplomatic approach when interacting with claimants and stakeholders
