The SSA team is responsible for and committed to:
- Strengthening development and DevOps practices
- Improving delivery efficiencies through platform and system convergence
- Simplifying systems and processes to enhance reusability and productivity
- Adhering to an aggressive cloud migration plan to simplify the operational model
- Enabling the business to rapidly grow our SSA customer base.

As the Director of Smart Security and Automation DevOps, you will:
- Lead a dedicated and aspirational technology team to deliver on an aggressive, multi-year technology strategy roadmap.
- Provide strategic advisory leadership to business partners, balancing competing priorities across business objectives, reliability standards, and delivery improvements
- Transform systems and processes while embracing the Chief Information Office (CIO) best practices for consistent, reliable and secure outcomes
- Collaborate with, advise and influence a diverse group of senior leaders to determine business imperatives, prioritization of products, and timelines.
This is a unique role that controls complete ownership of the systems operations, delivery and business growth. This exciting opportunity requires an experienced leader who has a proven track record for operational excellence, application delivery, along with an exceptional vision for technology evolution.
What you’ll do
- Provide vision, strategy and leadership to a highly engaged, high performing team
- Act as trusted advisor and collaborative partner, fostering strong relationships with all stakeholders to collectively meet the priorities and needs of the business
- Drive software engineering excellence and drive best practices both within the team and across CIO
- Drive change into both the CIO and other parts of the business, and partner teams
- Lead multi‑disciplinary and cross‑functional teams in a matrix structure to successfully deliver on objectives
- Uphold our culture of reliability by design by proactively collaborating with the appropriate teams to identify and remediate risks to our systems
- Create and deliver presentations to the executive leadership team on key strategic opportunities and initiatives
- Manage technology and application road maps and prioritize backlogs to support focus on reliability and timely delivery
- Foster strong partnership with industry vendors and champion exceptional outcomes
- Lead the adoption and maturation of agile and DevOps practices across the team
- Bring AI use across all parts of the team to drive both innovation and efficiency
What you bring
- 5‑7 years of people leadership experience, with success in leading, engaging, developing and inspiring geographically dispersed teams
- Experience in Data Center Operations, DevOps, and Cloud native principles
- Known for your collaborative approach and ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders including executive leaders
- Passionate about inspiring innovation, process and efficiency improvements
- Strategic thinking and business acumen with advanced analytical, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
- Regarded as an exceptional communicator (clear and concise), influencer and negotiator, including an ability to drive alignment through compelling storytelling and presentation to executive audience
- Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration, or equivalent education and/or experience
Great‑to‑haves
- Familiarity with industry leading and open source software for development and operations
- Experience with building and supporting cloud native (public/private) applications and services
- Experience integrating, converging and migrating customers, applications and data centers
- Knowledge of privacy and secure by design architecture
Salary Range:
$145,000‑$217,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:
30%
Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits such as:
