The Drug Plan and Extended Benefits Branch administers 29 programs that support the health and well‑being of Saskatchewan residents. This work includes responding to client inquiries, assessing program eligibility, and ensuring accurate and timely payment processing.

The Client Service Unit is seeking a motivated, client‑focused, and collaborative leader to join our fast‑paced call‑centre environment as a Lead Assessor. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic setting, enjoys developing people, and takes pride in delivering high‑quality public service.

As a Lead Assessor, you will provide both technical expertise and day‑to‑day leadership to ensure excellent service delivery and efficient operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as a subject matter expert for Drug Plan and Extended Benefits programs.
  • Providing strong leadership, guidance, and support to staff in a high‑volume client service environment.
  • Coaching, training, mentoring, and supporting staff performance and development.
  • Assigning work, managing workloads, and adjusting priorities to meet service standards and deadlines.
  • Participating in recruitment and selection in accordance with collective agreements, ministry policies, and Public Service Commission guidelines.
  • Monitoring quality, identifying trends, and recommending process improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  • Evaluating and implementing improvements to administrative and computerized systems.
  • Liaising with internal and external partners, including other ministries, agencies, health professionals, and service providers, while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with policies and legislation.
  • Managing complex or escalated client interactions with professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion.

You will have the knowledge of:

  • Drug Plan and Extended Benefits programs.
  • Human resource principles and supervisory practices.
  • Process improvement and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Specialized medical terminology and related documentation.
  • Interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies, and guidelines to daily operations.

You will be:

  • A strong, approachable, and supportive leader.
  • Client‑service oriented, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and courteously.
  • Highly organized and detail‑oriented, capable of managing competing priorities and interruptions.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a constantly changing environment.
  • Diplomatic and confident when resolving issues with difficult or confrontational clients or service providers.
  • Reliable, responsible, and discreet when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively to achieve team goals.
  • You also have strong written and verbal communication skills, can perform accurate mathematical calculations, and are proficient in creating, editing, maintaining, and transmitting data and documents using a variety of software applications.

The knowledge and skills required for this position are typically obtained through a two‑year diploma in business administration, human resources, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience in a call‑centre environment, ideally within a medical or health‑related field, as well as experience with government programs and policy, will be considered strong assets.
