About the role
Job Summary:
Urban Life Solutions is looking for experienced Hot Box Leads to join our construction and maintenance crews. Under the direction of the Foreman, this role focuses primarily on asphalt work, including operating hot box equipment, leading patching and repair, and ensuring quality surface finishing on municipal and federal projects. Additional duties may include supporting concrete and general construction tasks, along with seasonal landscape maintenance in summer and snow removal in winter.
Responsibilities:
Support asphalt paving, patching, and repair tasks for roads, pathways, and parking lots.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and light machinery (compactors, asphalt pavers, rollers, etc.)
Load and unload materials, ensuring a clean and safe work environment.
Follow Foreman’s instructions and adhere to safety guidelines and project specifications.
Perform construction and landscape maintenance during summer season and snow removal during the winter season, as needed
Other duties as required

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
3+ years of experience working in construction or landscape.
Experience using digital tools like Corfix, Samsara, and other field reporting systems
Experience installing pavers, including lift-and-relay work
Hands-on experience placing, finishing, and repairing concrete and asphalt
Familiarity with tools and techniques for placing and finishing concrete and asphalt.
Working knowledge of asphalt processes like cut, peel, and pave
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and prolonged standing.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn and take direction.
Able to drive trucks and tow trailers (load, secure, and haul properly)
Valid G driver’s license is an asset; experience with small equipment (e.g., bobcats, compactors) is a plus.
Can obtain or have a valid and current security clearance (reliability/secret)
