About the role
Position Overview
The client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver complex IT infrastructure and operational initiatives within a large public sector environment. The successful candidate will oversee end-to-end project delivery, manage multiple concurrent projects, coordinate technical teams, and ensure alignment between operational priorities and organizational objectives.
This role requires a strong technical foundation in web applications and modern cloud infrastructure, exceptional stakeholder management capabilities, and a people-first leadership approach.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage complex IT infrastructure and operational projects throughout the full project lifecycle. Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and quality metrics. Coordinate release planning, deployment activities, and patch management cycles. Facilitate change management processes, including Change Requests (CRQs), while minimizing service disruptions. Support IT operations by coordinating incident response activities and service management processes. Engage with ministry stakeholders, executive leadership, and technical teams to ensure alignment and informed decision-making. Drive infrastructure initiatives while ensuring compliance with enterprise standards, governance, and ITS processes. Identify, assess, and mitigate project and operational risks. Prepare project documentation, status reports, and executive presentations. Ensure effective knowledge transfer through documentation, workshops, and regular working sessions. Foster a collaborative, people-first culture across diverse technical and business teams.
Mandatory Qualifications
8 10+ years of experience managing complex IT projects, preferably within infrastructure and operations environments. Demonstrated public sector experience.
Strong technical background in
Web applications Modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) Hybrid and enterprise environments Experience managing a variety of technology products and services. Experience leading diverse technical teams across multiple disciplines.
Proven ability to manage
Scope Schedule Budget Risk Quality Experience coordinating: Release management Patching cycles Change management processes (CRQs) Experience supporting: Incident management Service operations IT service management processes Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Demonstrated people-first leadership approach.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience within large enterprise or government environments.
Knowledge of ITIL frameworks and best practices
Incident Management Change Management Problem Management Experience with cloud, on-premises, and hybrid infrastructure delivery. Familiarity with enterprise governance and ITS engagement processes. Awareness of emerging technologies and IT trends.
Project Management & Delivery Experience (50%)
8 10+ years managing complex IT projects. Full project lifecycle management experience. Release, patching, and change management expertise. Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
Technical Coordination & Operations Support (20%)
IT operations and service management experience. Coordination of technical teams delivering infrastructure initiatives. Risk identification and mitigation capabilities.
Communication & Stakeholder Management (25%)
Strong executive and stakeholder engagement skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Conflict resolution and decision facilitation experience. Proven relationship-building capabilities.
Desirable Skills (5%)
Public sector experience. ITIL knowledge. Cloud and hybrid infrastructure experience. Understanding of emerging IT technologies.
