The Data Governance Developer will work as part of the Enterprise Data Governance Team to plan and lead the rollout of data governance tool capabilities while focusing on the adoption and process implementation for critical governance aspect related to data quality and metadata management.
This role will operate within Data & Technology to provide technical guidance related to Collibra, Informatica, MS Purview and related application and reporting integrations. They collaborate with the data stewards and technical custodians through data governance projects and initiatives across the organization. This position offers an opportunity to influence and guide data governance adoption across various lines of business at OMERS (Pensions, Investments, Oxford and Corporate) to drive business success and ensure data integrity.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and monitor technology capabilities for key data governance focus areas of data catalog, metadata management, data quality management, data lineage, workflows, and access management.
- Provide ongoing access, maintenance, usage, and technical support for our Data Governance Tool inventory including Collibra, Informatica and Purview
- Responsible for being the primary point of contact for business partners to resolve data governance tool related technical issues on Collibra, Information and Purview.
- Manage the processes around metadata repositories (data dictionary, business glossary) and data classification process (identification of sensitive data)
- Transform business requirements to define data quality management approach for the business partner along with creating the necessary system and platforms integrations to implement data quality rules and build data quality monitoring.
- Implement data quality processes including data profiling, data quality analysis, parsing, standardization, enrichment, deploy mappings that will run in a scheduled, batch, or real-time environment and the development of data quality rules to support monitoring (using Informatica Cloud Data Quality (CDQ)) and remediation activities.
- Work closely with Data & Technology team during the development of new data governance capabilities and related integration with other applications, including requirements validation and testing.
- Create and maintain technical documentation in all aspects of Data Governance work including (not limited to) related to data quality processes, metadata management, data mappings, and data governance processes etc.
- Create and maintain appropriate materials for education, onboarding, and training for new and existing employees to educate and drive data governance best practices.
Qualifications
- Expert level skills in Collibra and/or Informatica IICS/CDQ platform as a whole and the integration among different components and services to carry out technical deployment and integration and troubleshoot user issues.
- 2+ years of experience working with vendors such as Collibra or Informatica vendors to discuss new functionality rollout or technical issue resolution related work.
- Experience with SQL, database applications MS SQL/ Oracle, and visualization tools such as Power BI is necessary.
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and data warehouse design (star schema, snowflake schema, etc.) is required.
- Strong functional understanding of performance tuning methods, mapplets, worklets, stored procedures & data mappings Relevant certifications in Informatica or data governance are a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of data management, analytics platforms, ETL, data architecture and integration areas of work.
- Knowledge and expertise in data governance technology, business process modeling, data classification, data quality and enterprise implementation of data governance tools and solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication to effectively articulate and communicate with both business and technical development teams.
