What do you offer?

The Recreational Facility Attendant supports the delivery of safe, inclusive, and welcoming recreation experiences within YMCA facilities. This position assists with the day-to-day operations of recreation spaces including gymnasiums, conditioning areas, aquatics spaces, and community program areas by supporting facility set-up, customer service, safety monitoring, administrative tasks, and general operational readiness. This role also supports facility audits related to safety, accessibility, environmental practices, and sustainability to help ensure YMCA spaces meet high standards for community use.

Some of the tasks of this position include:

  • Assists with the day-to-day operations of recreational spaces.
  • Supports facility audits related to safety, accessibility, environmental practices, and sustainability.
  • Supports the cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of recreation and shared community spaces throughout the facility.
  • Identifying and reporting facility, safety, accessibility, and/or customer service concerns to supervisors.
  • Ensuring that YMCA operational and safety standards are consistently upheld.
  • Balancing customer service, facility support, administrative duties, and recreation program assistance.

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:

Language

  • Fluent in English, oral and written
  • French is an asset

Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience working with the public, children, youth, families, or within recreation/community settings is considered an asset.
  • Interest in recreation, community services, facility operations, health and wellness, or customer service environments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrate professionalism and accountability.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish rapport with members, participants, families, staff, and volunteers.
  • Basic computer and digital literacy skills including experience using email, Google Suite, and online systems.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries and concerns in a professional, respectful, and supportive manner.

Additional Requirements:

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR/AED certification considered an asset.
  • Current Police Record Check per Association Policy may be required depending on assignment.
  • Role requires lifting, moving, and setting up recreation and program equipment.
  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
