About the role
Job Description There’s no pledge more important than the one we make to look after our environment, and we’re committed to helping you do exactly that! Join us as we strive to ensure a sustainable future for our communities and the world we live in.
Become part of our global network of skilled engineers, scientists, auditors, planners and environmental specialists, all working together to leave this world better than we found it.
GHD is committed to driving bold, sustainable, and profitable growth in the energy sector by expanding and investing in our most strategically important clients. Nuclear power is central to Ontario’s decarbonization, electrification, and reliability agenda. As the province advances major refurbishments, new builds, and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), GHD aims to become a trusted advisor, integrator, and delivery partner across the nuclear lifecycle.
Who are we looking for? As Nuclear Energy Leader for GHD’s Ontario Region , you will represent the voice of our nuclear clients and supply-chain partners, and play a critical role in shaping GHD’s nuclear market strategy. You will exemplify world-class client relationship leadership—combining technical credibility, regulatory understanding, commercial insight, and a partnership-first mindset. You will lead the creation and execution of GHD’s nuclear growth plan, elevate the client experience, and position GHD as a differentiated, high-value partner across the nuclear ecosystem.
Passionate about building relationships and advancing nuclear development in Ontario, with a future view towards Canada, you will work across markets and disciplines to represent nuclear client perspectives, build strategic partnerships, drive collaboration, and position GHD for long-term opportunity. You will be empowered to influence, lead, and accelerate change.
Working with an energetic and high-performing team, you will be involved in: Nuclear Market & Account Leadership Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary internal team focused on delivering high-value solutions to Ontario’s nuclear sector—including OPG, Bruce Power, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), and key supply-chain partners. Provide clear strategic vision, technical guidance, client insights, and pursuit leadership to achieve strong growth and market penetration. You will also collaborate with GHD’s UK business and its client space in the nuclear energy market, to share capabilities, clients, and technical knowledge.
Client Relationship Development Develop and implement a Nuclear Client Interaction Plan to build deep, intentional relationships with decision-makers, influencers, and technical leaders across nuclear utilities, regulators, partners, and suppliers. Partner with Regional Market Leaders and Sector Leaders to elevate GHD’s presence with senior nuclear stakeholders. Promote GHD’s brand, advocate for our multidisciplinary capabilities, and maintain a deep understanding of trends shaping nuclear development, public sentiment, regulatory frameworks, and federal/provincial policy.
Strategic Growth Planning Lead the creation and execution of a 3 to 5-year Nuclear Growth Plan for Ontario, aligned with provincial energy policy, nuclear refurbishment schedules, SMR development milestones, and supply-chain expansion. Drive commercial and financial performance by identifying high-value opportunities, informing investment decisions, establishing ambitious growth targets, and tracking performance across key metrics.
Client & Project Delivery Support Develop and implement an integrated nuclear business plan encompassing opportunity pipeline management, partnering strategies, workforce planning, quality program development, and client engagement processes. Work with Project Directors and delivery teams to ensure alignment with client expectations, regulatory requirements, and nuclear-grade quality standards. Support critical pursuits, strategic bids, and early-phase studies where nuclear expertise and relationship access enhance GHD’s competitiveness.
Nuclear Quality Programs & Compliance Guide GHD’s approach to nuclear quality systems—including CSA N286 and CSA N299—by identifying where certification is required, where partnership models can be leveraged, and how quality frameworks can be scaled over time. Work with GHD’s Quality Team to implement.
Industry Knowledge & Capability Building Maintain a deep understanding of nuclear system engineering, plant operations, refurbishment challenges, SMR technologies, regulatory processes, decommissioning approaches, waste strategies, environmental assessments, Indigenous considerations, and supply-chain constraints. Share best practices across GHD, identify internal capability gaps, and support targeted recruitment of senior nuclear professionals. Mentor emerging talent and help build a resilient, future-ready nuclear team.
Partnership & Supply-Chain Engagement Engage engineering firms, EPC contractors, testing organizations, manufacturers, and technology vendors to explore strategic collaboration. Develop a structured partnership approach with professional services firms and contractors in the space, as well as with owner/operators. Identify areas where GHD’s environmental, engineering, digital, advisory, and Indigenous engagement strengths complement partner capabilities.
Collaboration & Multidisciplinary Integration Work closely with Market Leaders, Business Group Leaders, and Relationship Managers to position GHD for major assignments requiring cross-disciplinary integration—such as environmental, civil, infrastructure, digital, advisory, and project management services. Support knowledge sharing, pipeline alignment, and strategic investment allocation.
Brand Building & Industry Networking Represent GHD at key nuclear industry events, associations, and conferences—including the Canadian Nuclear Association, CANDU Owners Group, Women in Nuclear, SMR supplier days, Bruce Power and OPG vendor forums, and major policy roundtables. Build visibility, thought leadership, and credibility for GHD’s growing nuclear practice.
