HDR is currently seeking a highly motivated recent graduate from a Civil Engineering Technology or Technician program to join our dynamic Rail Infrastructure Team as a Civil Rail Track Technologist located in our Richmond Hill, Toronto, ON or Calgary, AB office.
Key Responsibilities
-
Provide design support to the Rail Group
-
Provide design support for various railway and civil projects, such as:- 3D models
-
Detailing of design sections, plans and profiles
-
Perform design revisions in adherence to company standards, procedures and QA/QC measures.
-
Create preliminary and final approval drawings for a wide variety of railway engineering projects for various clients. Typical projects include (but are not limited to): - track alignments and special track work
-
grading and drainage
-
utility protection and relocation
-
Construction staging
-
Performing calculations such as volume and area estimates using CAD tools and provide technical assistance to the project design teams
-
Additional tasks include supporting field assignments when they come up, such as site topographic surveys and construction supervision, as well as supporting project managers with project coordination.
-
Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills
-
Recent college graduate with a diploma in Civil Engineering (Technologist/Technician)
-
A Minimum 0 -3 years of related experience
-
Knowledge in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Subassembly Composer, Microstation and Bentley InRoads. CADD certification is considered an asset
-
Proficient in reading and preparing high quality engineering drawings and packages
-
Understands topography and is comfortable navigating survey data in a CADD environment
-
Ability to perform various Quantity Calculations

Pursuing CET certification is an asset

High attention to detail and organizational skills
-
Strong time management skills and easily adapts to changes in workload
-
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
-
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
-
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
-
Valid driver’s license
