Key Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mill. The uranium milled at Key Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. The Role

As the superintendent, project planning, you are responsible as a member of the site senior management team for ensuring that project activities are meeting current and future operational business needs through the successful delivery of capital assets. This position sets the direction for the project execution group and is the primary representative for projects within site operations.

This is a two-year temporary position.

In this role, you will:

  • Define the program of capital projects through strategic planning process and is accountable for translating the business needs into defined projects. This includes prioritization, risk assessment, justifications, business case, and objectives.

  • Ensure establishment of appropriate project sponsorship and monitor relationships between project managers and sponsors. Ensures that the projects are managed in accordance with Cameco’s established programs related to project management.

  • Define performance expectations for projects executed by technical services.

  • Act as a liaison between operations, execution team and external stakeholders.

  • Provide operational management and periodically provide overall site management, through the role of site senior, as required by site general manager.

Required:

  • diploma or degree in mining or technical related field;

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in project leadership role in EPCM (engineering, procurement, or construction management) environment;

  • equivalent combination of education and work experience considered;

  • proven leadership skills with consistent focus on safety and environment, project execution and business planning utilizing a wide range of resources from labourer to subject matter experts; and

  • work an irregular schedule, Monday to Thursday, and commute to site by aircraft.

Recommended:

  • P. Eng, Project Management Professional (PMP), or other recognized project management designation;

  • supervisors certificate;

  • familiar with plant automation and digital technology; and

  • previous program management and uranium mining/processing experience.
