The Village of Whitby has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Service Worker to join their team in Retirement.

The hiring rate for this role is $21.23per collective agreement.

As a new Maintenance Team Member joining our Village Team, you will:
- Be comfortable working at heights and with exposure to outside weather conditions and understand the physical expectations of maintenance work
- Handle Resident’s personal items with care and respect
- Comfortable lifting 15-25 lbs.
- Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members
- Be willing to work in a fast-paced environment
- Have exceptional time management skills and ability to work in collaboration with a team
- Support and embrace our resident-centered social culture
Assets, but not required, as Schlegel Villages provides training to the successful candidate:
- Have experience working in a Long-Term Care or Retirement Home setting
- An awareness and understanding of infection control practices, workplace hazardous materials and chemicals (WHMIS), as well as, all relevant health and safety procedures
- An understanding of general maintenance and trades, such as, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and electrical
- The awareness and ability to operate equipment and machinery, such as, hot water heating systems, air exchange units, fire alarms, sprinkler systems and/or call systems
- Skill in operating common hand and power tools
