POWERLINE TECHNICIAN (1 POSITION) - PERMANENT FULL TIME, 40 HOURS/WEEK

Role Essentials
The successful Powerline Technician would have honed mechanical abilities, be a competent team player, and is motivated to work within our community.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Powerline Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and construction of overhead and underground electricity distribution systems.
All work will be conducted in a safe manner applying all company, industry and provincial policies, practices, and regulations.
The position works closely with the CWH customer service team to ensure exceptional customer experiences and the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of electricity. The Powerline Technician is part of a community-minded team and maintains positive and professional relationships with customers and others.
Ideal Skills and Qualifications

Completion of Powerline Technician Program with a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Certification as a Journeyman Powerline Technician, or registered Apprentice with a minimum of two years’ work experience in the trade.

Experience operating large vehicles and equipment with demonstrated competency from job set-up to completion, including documentation and traffic management.

Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of electrical distribution systems.

Demonstrated computer literacy skills, including proficiency in a Windows environment and associated software applications: GIS, SCADA, ESRI, CAD.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, and competence in completing required paperwork and reports.

Possession and maintenance of a Class DZ driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.

Ability to physically perform essential duties of the position including regular on-call duties and response to emergency work outside of regular business hours and in all types of weather conditions.

Must reside within a 35-minute response time to Company service centre.

Safe work record and strong safety orientation with a solid knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
Compensation Package
This is a union position with a salary range proportionate with CWH’s Collective Agreement with Power Workers’ Union CUPE Local 1000. CWH offers a rewarding work environment, comprehensive group benefit package, OMERS Pension Plan, and a small-LDC workplace that offers both a variety of tasks and support for development.
