The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Building Services & Safety, the Technical Operations Summer Student works closely with the Technical Operations team to ensure the efficient operation and ongoing maintenance of buildings and equipment at the R+T Park in Saskatoon.

Primary Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Working alongside Building Operators and a variety of tradespeople on day-to-day maintenance, repairs and equipment installations.
  • Assisting with preventative maintenance tasks, including monitoring and maintaining safety equipment.
  • Supporting general building and shop operations, including tasks such as cleaning, organizing, recycling and occasional forklift operation (as required).
  • Assisting with the tracking, storing and restocking of tools, supplies and equipment.
  • Helping maintain vehicles and equipment, including routine checks, cleaning and basic upkeep.
  • Conducting regular walk-throughs of mechanical rooms to ensure safety, cleanliness and organization.
  • Handling the pickup and delivery of parts, materials and supplies.
  • Completing work orders, basic paperwork and other tasks or projects as assigned.

What We Want from You

You’re a great fit if you have the following:

  • Currently enrolled in, graduating this academic year or a recent graduate (within the past year) of a full-time academic program.
  • Availability to work full-time from early May to late August.
  • Valid driver’s licence and ability to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check (required).
  • Previous experience working within a maintenance department (preferred).
  • Experience operating power equipment and tools (e.g., forklift, battery-operated or handheld tools).
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with a team and adapt to changing priorities as needed.
