Department: Quality
Reports to: Quality Manager, Bothwell Status: Full-time
Purpose:
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Supervisor of Quality Control is responsible for the provision of efficient and effective quality control services to the Production Department within the respective division of Gay Lea Foods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regular product and process checking, analysis and reporting.
- Work closely with production staff in the areas of sanitation, hygiene, GMPs and related necessary training.
- Serving as a liaison with external government agencies to ensure the co-operative maintains a positive reputation as a manufacturer of high quality food products.
- Responsible for control of the expenses for laboratory consumables, equipment and man-hours.
- Develop a positive team approach in the quality control area by ensuring a close working relationship between production personnel and laboratory staff at all times.
- Act as the on-site HACCP Co-ordinator to ensure that Gay Lea HACCP programs, including pre-requisite, are up to date and compliant with CFIA standards, FSEP and the DEIM.
- Responsible to train operators on all changes to the Food Safety & Quality system as communicated by Management and QA.
- Work closely with Operations Management & Staff to promote and drive a strong Food Safety Culture
- Has complete authority to stop the manufacture of food if any unsafe conditions are encountered or the quality of the product might be compromised
- Reports to the Quality Manager any issues or barriers encountered in the accomplishments of duties above
Qualifications:
- Must have a university Bachelor degree, majoring in microbiology, chemistry, or food sciences
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the food industry
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
- Proficient computer abilities using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
