About the role
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Lead, Virtual Pharmacy, the Virtual Pharmacist is responsible for delivering exception professional services to patients. The pharmacist must have a dedicated focus on providing exceptional patient care that is in compliance with the standards of practice of pharmacy colleges in relevant province. The pharmacist will provide comprehensive medication reviews and assessment in order to achieve desired patient outcomes.

Principal Responsibilities:
- Perform patient focused services as deemed eligible and appropriate for patients, including comprehensive medication reviews and other professional services within full scope of practice.
- Provide professional advice and recommendation to patients on prescription and OTC products to drive strong customer experience and loyalty.
- Accurate and timely claim submission of all patient focused services performed
- Ensure thorough documentation to physician and pharmacy team to ensure continuity of care.
- Follow up on all patient interventions and identified drug related problems to ensure and document improved patient health outcomes.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation as required by the various Colleges of Pharmacy, drugs plans (both public & private) as well as all Rexall programs and SOP’s
- Supports implementation of clinical programs either centrally or at store level
- Maintains up to date clinical knowledge and industry trends, laws and regulations as it pertains to community pharmacy practice
- Visits assigned stores and develops strong working relationships with pharmacy teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Rexall Pharmacy Group Ltd.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- Valid Provincial Pharmacy license and in good standing with the College (Ontario)
- Must be injection Certified
- Additional specialized training or certifications are considered an asset (ie; CDE, CGP, CRE etc.)
- Strong customer/patient satisfaction orientation
- Ability to achieve results with a strong sense of urgency and a “can-do” attitude
- Ability to maintain the optimum balance between the profession of pharmacy and business of pharmacy
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Pharmacy Dispensing Software (Propel an asset), Patient Centre
Context and Environment:
- This position requires an understanding of the role and scope of practice of pharmacists in the community setting.
- The position requires the confidence and clinical knowledge when dealing with patients with complex medical conditions and goals of therapy.
Internal Communications:
- Participate in continuous learning activities and share relevant information with other members of the team.
- Build and foster strong cross functional relationships with store teams and central office.
External Communications:
- Strong customer experience mindset, with a commitment to providing patients with clinical information, recommendations and services to meet their health- related needs.
