About the role

Nova Scotia International Student Program A joint venture of the Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education, Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education, Chignecto-Central Regional Centre for Education, Conseil scolaire acadien provincial, Halifax Regional Centre for Education, South Shore Regional Centre for Education, Strait Regional Centre for Education, and Tri-County Regional Centre for Education in partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.   POSITION TITLE: EAL Teacher   COMPETITION #: 26-07-01   POSITION SUMMARY: The EAL Teacher is responsible for teaching virtual EAL classes, and providing tutoring to NSISP students with low level English in grades 7-12. The EAL teacher will be expected to develop and implement lesson plans that support students with improving their English reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.  REPORTS TO:   Assistant Executive Director  REQUIREMENTS:

Valid Teaching Certificate recognized by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development OR EAL teaching qualifications that are recognized by TESL Canada. Previous experience teaching EAL in Canada or abroad. Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Experience with virtual EAL instruction and use of Google Classroom is considered an asset.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Contract position from September 21, 2026- June 11, 2027 Hours of Work: 8-12 hours per week Remuneration: $31 per hour Location: Virtual via Google Classroom

A satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and a Criminal Record Check, according to NSISP policies and standards, will be required.
