Job Type: Full-Time. Location: Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta or Hamilton, Ontario.

Pay Range: $50,000-60,000

Position Summary

The Human Resources Coordinator supports the effective delivery of Human Resources programs and initiatives across the organization. This role assists with recruitment, employee relations, onboarding and offboarding, compliance, organizational development, and workforce administration while ensuring alignment with SB Canada's business objectives and values.

Key Responsibilities of the Role

Health, Safety & Compliance Be an active participant in SB Canada's Health and Safety Program, helping to contribute to and promote a positive safety culture. Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable employment legislation, human rights legislation, and workplace regulations in all jurisdictions where the company operates. Keep current with changes to relevant legislation and support managers in meeting legal and regulatory requirements. Assist with HR-related audits, documentation, and compliance activities as required.

Human Resources Administration

Support the implementation of Human Resources strategies and initiatives that align with SB Canada's goals and objectives. Maintain accurate employee records and data within the Common People Directory (CPD) and other HR systems. Prepare employment agreements and other employment-related documentation for management review. Administer employee group benefits programs, including enrollments, terminations, employee changes, claims support, and liaison with benefits providers. Maintain and update organizational structure charts by Business Unit on a monthly basis.

Recruitment, Onboarding & Offboarding

Perform the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and onboarding activities. Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a positive employee experience and compliance with company procedures. Support employee training and development initiatives as required. Participate in and represent the company at job fairs, recruitment events, and industry networking opportunities when needed.

Employee Relations

Serve as a resource for employees and management regarding workplace concerns, policies, procedures, and employment-related matters. Assist in fostering positive employee relations by helping address employee inquiries, concerns, grievances, and workplace issues in a timely and professional manner. Promote a respectful, inclusive, and positive workplace culture.

Immigration & Expatriate Support

Support the administration and coordination of expatriate employee assignments while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Maintain knowledge of immigration processes and requirements for current and prospective employees working in Canada. Assist employees and management with immigration-related documentation and processes as required.

Qualifications – What Will Make You Successful

Education: Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience: 2-3 years of progressive Human Resources experience required. Experience supporting a workforce in the construction, industrial, or manufacturing sector is considered a strong asset. Experience coordinating recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration is preferred. Technical Knowledge & Skills: Working knowledge of employment-related legislation, including Employment Standards, Human Rights, and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Experience using Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), employee databases, and electronic personnel record management systems. Core Competencies: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Required designations or certifications: CHRP designation (or working toward designation) is considered an asset.
