Based inTimmins, theSurvey Crew Chiefwill report to the Project Manager, Geomatics, and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on supporting construction and infrastructure development in Northern Ontario. You will be part of a team that provides a full range of traditional surveying services as well as construction monitoring, precision layout, and high-definition 3D laser scanning. This is a new position and the salary range for this position is $55,000 - $75,000 annually.

What You’ll Do: The Survey Crew Chief will be part of the TULLOCH Geomatics team. You will:

  • Assess field and documentary evidence to perform boundary surveys
  • Perform pre-engineering, topographic surveys while overseeing field activities
  • Read and decipher design documents and basic layout calculations on the fly
  • Perform high-precision surveys such as industrial layout, deformation monitoring, levelling, and static control network surveys
  • Perform construction layout for anchor bolt locations, grid lines, formwork, concrete piers, and footings
  • Collect field data using traditional survey instruments such as total station and high precision levels as well as GPS field equipment
  • Oversee QC of data collection ensuring that field notes and daily downloads are complete
  • Collect terrestrial scanning and UAV data
  • Interact with clients while onsite
  • Mentor and train new field staff

Who You Are:

  • You have at least three (3) years of practical related work experience
  • You are proficient in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting conventional and GPS survey equipment or similar
  • You are familiar with static control surveys, high-precision layout work, and 1st order levelling techniques (or are willing and able to learn)
  • You have knowledge of Ontario survey evidence and the Acts, Standards, and Regulations as they relate to performing cadastral surveys
  • You are willing to travel for site inspections and fieldwork, including outside of the Timmins area
  • You are proficient in the operation of ATVs/UTVs/snowmobiles
  • You exercise independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
  • You can pivot and alter approach or recommendations to accomplish desired results
