About the role
Mainroad Alberta Contracting LP is looking for a committed and safety-focused night time Highway Road Patroller to join our growing team. In this key role, you’ll be responsible for monitoring road conditions and ensuring the ongoing maintenance and safety of our highway network. This position is based in Red Deer, Alberta, and reports directly to the Foreman.
What you bring:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 3 with air brake endorsement preferred)
- 3 years of related experience
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work night shift and in all weather conditions

This role involves a range of job duties, which include, but are not limited to:
- Highway patrolling, traffic control, and emergency response
- Surface, shoulder, and drainage maintenance
- Right-of-way upkeep, roadside turnout maintenance, and garbage pickup
- Bridge washing, roadside barrier repairs, pavement marking
- Sign installation and repairs
- Incident response and reporting
- Vehicle maintenance and equipment checks
- Fence repair, litter pickup, grass cutting, shrub/tree maintenance
- Embankment repair and public safety support during accidents
