About the role

Description

We are seeking a highly strategic and influential Director, Finance – Business Innovation & Canada Controllership to lead two critical mandates for our Americas Finance organization. This dual‑focused role oversees financial leadership for Business Innovation initiatives and full Canada Finance Controllership responsibilities.

As the FP&A lead for Business Innovation, you will drive strategic planning, financial modeling, performance tracking, and insight generation for emerging growth opportunities. As the Controllership leader for Canada, you will oversee statutory accounting, financial reporting, compliance, tax & treasury activities, and commercial opex governance.

This is a high‑visibility role for a hands‑on, forward‑thinking finance leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy, operations, and financial rigor.

Role expectations

Business Innovation – FP&A Leadership

  • Partner with Business Innovation leaders to evaluate and model business cases for new growth opportunities.

  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, opex management, and initiative‑level performance tracking.

  • Provide AOP/LRS guidance and ensure initiative impacts are rigorously monitored and reported.

  • Assess accounting, tax, corporate finance, and operational implications of innovation initiatives.

  • Coordinate with regional and global finance teams to ensure accurate, aligned BI reporting.

  • Support the development of scalable processes, systems, and automation for BI execution.

Canada Controllership – Finance Leadership

  • Full ownership of Canadian statutory accounting, controllership, and financial governance.

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles including accruals, revaluation, allocations, FX, leases, and fixed assets.

  • Oversee Canada commercial opex budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and risk/opportunity management.

  • Deliver accurate, timely financial reporting: balance sheet reviews, flux analysis, and executive‑ready commentary.

  • Provide accounting and policy guidance to commercial teams and cross‑functional partners.

  • Lead Canada Tax & Treasury activities including tax provision, transfer pricing, cashflow forecasting, and coordination with internal/external advisors.

  • Oversee payroll accounting in partnership with AMS payroll experts.

  • Collaborate with Commercial, Sales Analytics, and FP&A to assess variable expense drivers (e.g., commissions, bonuses, credit card fees).

  • Continuously strengthen financial controls, compliance processes, and operating discipline.

  • Coach and develop finance talent, elevating capability across the Canadian organization.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • CPA/CGA/CA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, ideally with exposure to both FP&A and controllership.
  • Experience in public accounting or a large corporate finance function strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and hands‑on experience leading close cycles and governance activities.
  • Proven ability to build advanced financial models and synthesize complex data into clear insights.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
  • Track record of developing talent, building cross‑functional partnerships, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada and travel to the U.S. (up to ~20%).
