Position Summary
The Technical Services Support – Mining Division plays a critical role in delivering advanced technical solutions to customers and supporting the Global Sales Team. This position requires expertise in computational modeling, material analysis, and installation methodologies for mill liners. The successful candidate will leverage specialized software tools and engineering principles to optimize product performance and resolve complex technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical liaison for mining customers, maintaining detailed technical documentation, call reports, and performance data.
- Conduct computer simulations using BlazeDEM or equivalent Discrete Element Modeling (DEM) software to analyze mill charge motion and liner wear patterns.
- Perform 3D scanning and reverse engineering for mill components using FARO or similar scanning technologies.
- Provide technical training and on-site support for mill liner installation, including alignment, bolt torque specifications, and wear monitoring.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to develop custom liner designs based on ore characteristics, mill geometry, and operational parameters.
- Troubleshoot field issues related to liner fit, material integrity, and installation procedures; recommend corrective actions and design improvements.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, including finite element analysis (FEA) results, wear life predictions, and installation best practices.
- Requirements include: Working on site from the Elora, Ontario location and ability to travel globally as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Materials Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in mining or heavy industrial environments.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, and advanced 3D modeling software.
- Hands-on experience with DEM simulation tools (BlazeDEM, Rocky DEM) and FEA software (ANSYS, Abaqus).
- Strong knowledge of mill liner installation techniques, including liner handling systems, bolt tensioning, and safety protocols for confined spaces.
- Familiarity with rubber and composite material properties, wear mechanisms, and failure analysis.
- Advanced skills in MS Project, Office Suite, and technical documentation.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with FARO Scanners and associated software for dimensional verification.
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance tools and condition monitoring systems for mill liners.
- Exposure to mineral processing operations.
