About the role
Role Overview The Senior Manager, Data Insights & Communications leads the development of data-driven reporting and strategic communication initiatives that enable informed decision-making and strengthen engagement across BMO’s IT Engineering & Platforms group. This role combines analytics expertise with strategic storytelling to deliver actionable insights, standardized reporting, and compelling narratives for executive audiences. The successful candidate will own the roadmap for evolving data and communication capabilities, driving transparency and alignment across the organization.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
- Shape and implement a unified communications and reporting strategy aligned with IT Engineering & Platforms objectives.
- Develop and maintain a roadmap for data insights and communication capabilities that supports organizational priorities.
Data Insights & Reporting
- Lead the creation of standardized dashboards and reports using Power BI or similar BI platforms.
- Translate complex data into actionable insights and executive-ready visualizations.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and governance across all reporting processes.
Communications Strategy
- Design and deliver tailored communication materials (executive presentations, leadership emails, internal newsletters, social media posts).
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure messaging aligns with organizational priorities and resonates with diverse audiences.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Manage and mentor a high-performing reporting team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Work cross-functionally with IT, business units, and leadership teams to support strategic initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Data Analytics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, and communications strategy.
- Proven experience managing teams and delivering executive-level reporting and presentations.
- Proficiency in Power BI or similar BI platforms; strong data analysis and visualization skills.
- Advanced PowerPoint and presentation design capabilities.
- Familiarity with social media and internal communication channels.
- Experience in IT Service Management practices; ITIL certification is an asset.
- Strong storytelling ability—able to translate data into compelling narratives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored for executive audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive strategic outcomes.
Salary: $86,000.00 - $160,000.00
Pay Type: Salaried
The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
