Purpose** The Security Specialist is responsible for safeguarding people, property, and critical infrastructure through a combination of physical security practices and the effective use of security technologies. This role supports the planning, implementation, and maintenance of security systems and ensures compliance with site protocols and regulatory standards. The specialist will respond to incidents, manage access control systems, and contribute to continuous security improvements
Responsibilities Security Systems Management
- Coordinate Install and maintain electronic security systems (e.g., CCTV, access control, alarms, intercoms, perimeter detection).
- Ensure proper functionality and integration of physical and digital security technologies.
- Conduct routine system inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance.
Incident Support & Troubleshooting
- Respond to technical faults in security equipment and software.
- Investigate and resolve operational and performance issues with security infrastructure.
- Maintain and configure user access levels in access control systems (e.g., Lenel, Avigilon,
System Upgrades & Implementation
- Lead or support deployment of new security technologies or system upgrades.
- Coordinate with vendors, integrators, and internal stakeholders on project execution.
- Test and validate new systems or hardware before rollout.
Security Monitoring & Analysis
- Support the monitoring and analysis of security systems to identify vulnerabilities or anomalies.
- Review access control logs and surveillance footage as needed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in system alerting and monitoring protocols.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain detailed records of system configurations, changes, incidents, and maintenance activities.
- Develop and update SOPs, user guides, and technical manuals for systems.
Training & End-User Support
- Provide training and technical support to staff on the use of security systems (e.g., badge systems, video review tools).
- Serve as the liaison between security operations and IT or facility teams.
Training and Education
- 1–2 years of experience in a security role, preferably with leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
- Valid security license in compliance with local/provincial/state regulations.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Solid understanding of security practices and emergency response procedures.
- Skilled in report writing, recordkeeping, and use of relevant technology (e.g., radios, access control, CCTV).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to stay composed under pressure and make sound decisions quickly.
- Professional conduct, integrity, and leadership by example.
Working Conditions Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
