Clinical Nurse Educator

WAGE RANGE:

ONA03 $44.10/hr $61.95/hr
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As part of the Nursing Professional Practice Department, working with the Perioperative and Inpatient Surgical Program, the purpose of the Clinical Nurse Educator for PACU/DSU/POAC/ D4-Inpatient Surgery is to identify the need for, develop, implement, and evaluate education programs and learning experiences/activities to assist staff to acquire and maintain the knowledge, skills and judgment for safe performance in the delivery of high quality patient and family centered care.
- The Clinical Nurse Educator has comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based nursing practice related to designated clinical area and improves patient care by enabling the nurse to work to the fullest scope of their role by advancing standards of care, fostering and evaluating clinical competence and professional practice.
- The Clinical Nurse Educator works collaboratively with the QCH interprofessional team to enhance patient care by facilitating educational activities and a culture of quality improvement
- Demonstrate QCH values: collaboration, accountability, innovation, respect
REQUIREMENTS:
- Baccalaureate in Nursing
- Masters in Nursing or Education (or other health related program) – candidates in-progress will be considered
- Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Minimum of five (5) years of recent clinical experience in surgical nursing and Perioperative surgery
- Experience with arterial lines, CVP lines, and ventilators
- One (1) year related teaching experience and/or group facilitation
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communication and teaching skills
- Computer competency
- Proven facilitation, collaboration and leadership skills
- ACLS certification
- Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) Membership
PREFERRED:
- Experience with clinical documentation in an Electronic Health Record
- Leadership, Facilitation and Conflict Resolution Courses
- Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Certificate in Perioperative Nursing Canada
- Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Perianesthesia Nurse Certification, PANC(C)
- Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Medical/Surgical Certification
- Membership in specialty related Professional Associations (eg. OPANA, NAPAN. ORNAC, ORORNA)
