About the role

UZADO

Managed Security & IT — Team Lead Location: Remote | Type: Full-Time, Permanent | Level: Intermediate THE OPPORTUNITY Uzado is a Canadian compliance-led Managed Service Provider (MSP) and Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) headquartered in Richmond Hill, Ontario. We deliver end-to-end IT, cybersecurity, and compliance solutions to B2B clients across Canada and the United States under our guiding promise: Reliability Today. Resilience for Tomorrow.

We are looking for a Managed Security & IT Team Lead to join our operations team at the intermediate level. This is a hands-on leadership role — you will own day-to-day service delivery across a portfolio of managed clients while mentoring junior technicians and acting as a technical escalation point. You will bridge SecOps and ITOps, ensuring our clients stay secure, compliant, and operationally resilient. This role is ideal for someone who has grown beyond pure individual contributor work and is ready to lead a small team, own client relationships at the technical level, and shape how Uzado delivers managed services.

Compliance is not an add-on at Uzado — it is the lens through which we deliver every security and IT serv WHAT YOU'LL DO Team Leadership & Service Delivery

  • Lead and mentor a small team of managed security and IT analysts; set priorities, review work, and support professional development.
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for your team and for client issues that exceed tier-1/2 capacity.
  • Oversee day-to-day ticket queue management in ConnectWise, ensuring SLAs are met and client expectations are actively managed.
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones and contribute to performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours escalations.

Security Operations (SecOps)

  • Manage and monitor EDR/XDR platforms (SentinelOne, Huntress) across client environments; triage and investigate alerts.
  • Oversee SIEM monitoring workflows, fine-tune alerting rules, and drive threat investigation to resolution.
  • Lead vulnerability scanning and remediation cycles using Qualys; produce client-facing risk reports and remediation road maps.
  • Administer managed phishing simulation and security awareness training programs (KnowBe4 / Huntress SAT); report on outcomes monthly.
  • Support incident response activities — contain, investigate, and document security incidents in partnership with client CIRT teams.
  • Leverage UEBA capabilities (Gurucul) for advanced behavioural threat detection on applicable client environments.

IT Operations (ITOps)

  • Manage client Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 (O365) environments — user provisioning, licensing, configuration, and health monitoring.
  • Administer Okta identity and access management deployments; enforce MFA policies and access governance.
  • Oversee Fortinet firewall management — rule reviews, patching, and configuration changes aligned to change management processes.
  • Coordinate proactive patch management cycles through ConnectWise RMM; track compliance and resolve exceptions.
  • Maintain asset visibility and inventory accuracy using Lansweeper across managed client environments.
  • Support network and cloud infrastructure management; assist with migrations and hosted workload management as required.

Compliance & GRC Support

  • Support client SOC 2 Type II and other compliance programs using Vanta; help clients maintain continuous control evidence and audit readiness.
  • Assist the compliance team in executing gap assessments, control implementation, and audit preparation activities.
  • Identify and document security and IT risks; escalate material findings to senior leadership and the client.
  • Ensure all managed services documentation is current and meets Uzado's compliance obligations.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong technical relationships with client IT contacts; communicate proactively on risks, remediation, and service status.
  • Participate in client service reviews; prepare and present performance reporting and metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services in existing accounts and relay these to the account management team.

WHAT YOU BRING

Experience

  • 3–6 years of hands-on experience in managed IT and/or managed security environments.
  • At least 1–2 years in a lead, senior, or team-lead capacity — formal title not required, but demonstrated ownership of outcomes.
  • Track record of managing client relationships and delivering against SLA commitments in an MSP/MSSP context.
  • Experience working in a multi-tenant environment with responsibility for multiple client accounts simultaneously.

Technical Proficiency

Candidates ideally (not mandatory) have hands-on or leadership-level proficiency with the following: ✓ ConnectWise (PSA / RMM) ✓ Okta — Identity & Access Management ✓ SentinelOne (EDR / XDR) ✓ Fortinet — Firewall & Network Security ✓ Huntress (SIEM, XDR, SAT) ✓ Microsoft Azure & Microsoft 365 (O365) ✓ Qualys — Vulnerability Management ✓ SOC 2 Type II — Audit Lifecycle & Controls ✓ KnowBe4 — Security Awareness Training ✓ Vanta — Compliance Automation & GRC ✓ Gurucul — UEBA & Threat Detection ✓ Lansweeper — IT Asset Management Soft Skills & Leadership

  • Clear written and verbal communication — comfortable translating technical risk into business language for clients.
  • Organized and self-directed; able to manage competing priorities across a multi-client portfolio without losing the thread.
  • A coaching mindset — you take satisfaction in making your team better, not just doing the work yourself.
  • High integrity and accountability; you follow through and own outcomes.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where playbooks are evolving and initiative is rewarded.

Certifications (Asset, Not Required)

  • CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or equivalent
  • Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals / Associate (SC-900 / SC-200)
  • Fortinet NSE 4 or above
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) — for candidates on the senior end of intermediate
  • SOC 2 / ISO 27001 Lead Implementer or Lead Auditor

WHY UZADO

  • Work at the intersection of IT, security, and compliance — three disciplines that most MSPs treat as silos.
  • Real ownership: you are not a cog in a large NOC. You will shape how services are delivered and have visibility at every level.
  • Exposure to a modern, curated security stack — SentinelOne, Huntress, Vanta, and more — purpose-built for the compliance-led MSP model.
  • A people-first culture: our clients know our team by name. We build relationships, not ticket queues.
  • Competitive compensation with benefits, and a clear growth path toward senior and architect-level roles.
  • Canadian company, Canadian data sovereignty focus — domestic regulatory expertise and BreqWatr private cloud hosting.
  • SOC 2 Type II certified — we hold ourselves to the same standard we help clients achieve.
