About the role

LOCATION: Kitchener-Waterloo, ON

KW Habilitation is a local not-for-profit organization that provides a wide range of individualized services and supports to children with any special need and adults with developmental disabilities. We support individuals to live a fulfilling life which is fostered through preschool and early learning supports, respite services, residential services, community participation, and employment supports.

Reporting to the Director of Inclusion Supports, the Associate Director will support the Director with the strategic planning, management and coordination of supports to maintain a high level of service for people supported by KW Habilitation, their families and a safe workplace for employees and volunteers. The Associate Director works to develop and maintain strong community partnerships, as well as explores innovative solutions to meet Agency Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Priorities.

As a leader and positive role model, the Associate Director participates fully as a member of the leadership team and the Agency as a whole, helping operationalize KWH strategic pathways, foster evidence-based practices that promote person directed and person-centered supports and deepens the development of community-based initiatives. The Associate Director will also be vigilant in risk management and work in compliance with all relevant, applicable legislation and Agency Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma (2 years) and/or a University degree in a human services.
  • 4 years experience as a Manager responsible for supervising staff.
  • Familiarity with KW Hab policies and procedures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and computer skills.
  • Highly organized and time management skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities and Strategic Thinking.
  • Leadership experience managing complex challenges through to solution.
  • Strength in Change Management.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence and ability to manage highly complex situations.
  • Experience ensuring standards to meet ministry compliance expectations
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal and relationship/network building skills.
  • Excellent professional communication skills.
  • Able to demonstrate creative problem-solving and decision-making.

Hours: 40 hours/week – Flexible (some evening and weekend work required)
