About the role

Job Responsibilities

  • Accurately collect and enter data into databases, spreadsheets, and other data management systems (LIMS) as required in the laboratory.
  • Develop and maintain method and equipment calibration trend sheets.
  • Develop and maintain instrument maintenance trend sheets.
  • Build on control charts for key parameters of test methods, and keep these current.
  • Review safety measures and develop trends and reports as suitable.
  • Execute required duties related to the physical, electrical, and chemical testing of high voltage insulating liquid samples.
  • Adhere to established testing procedures, methodologies, and safety protocols.
  • Ensure current international standard methods are available for reference and use by lab techs.
  • Leverage VBA and Excel functionalities to automate routine data entry tasks, improving efficiency and reducing manual errors.
  • Monitor the workflow of samples through the laboratory, noting sample and testing priority.
  • Prioritize tasks to ensure efficient and timely completion of testing procedures.
  • Become proficient with a variety of testing procedures.
  • Maintain detailed notes on anomalies and non‐conformances, contributing to continuous improvement
  • Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and safe.
  • Perform basic maintenance of test equipment as per established protocols.
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner to extend its lifespan and maintain reliability.
  • Prepare analytical standards, solutions, and reagents for testing purposes.
  • Follow established protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of prepared materials.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with co‐workers, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Demonstrate effective teamwork skills and contribute positively to the overall success of the laboratory.
  • Appropriately dispose of waste generated during testing procedures.
  • Provide housekeeping support to maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Washing of glassware as required.
  • Monitor supply levels and notify the supervisor or manager of required materials and consumables.
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of laboratory supplies to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
  • Complete other duties assigned.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Strong background and interest in Chemistry, Science, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to effectively problem‐solve.
  • Experience handling chemical, or specifically petrochemical, related materials is an asset.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including manipulation of scientific units and measures.
  • High degree of manual dexterity and coordination.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills: knowledge of Excel formulae and spreadsheets is a strong asset.
  • Working experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
  • Able to communicate oral and written communication skills; follow directions-written direction, oral direction, reading work orders and/or specs as assigned; work in a team environment and communicate with team, various departments, and/or Customers as business needs dictate.

Travel: 0-05%

Physical Demands: Lifting a maximum of 50lbs on a daily. Position requires standing and using computer.
