Our Data Engineering team is seeking a motivated technical leader to join us as Manager-Information Services. As a Manager, you will lead a diverse team of highly collaborative and skilled Data Engineers, Full Stack Developers, DBAs, Cloud Engineers, Healthcare Professionals & last but not least AI/ML Engineers. With your strong background in data engineering you will lead complex data engineering projects for TELUS Health that entails designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and systems that support our healthcare data initiatives.
What you’ll do
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex data pipelines and systems that support our healthcare data initiatives
- Manage a team of data engineers, data analysts, and data scientists to ensure project success
- Define project scope, timelines, and deliverables, and manage project risks
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including technical and non‑technical audiences
- Ensure data quality, privacy, and security requirements are met
- Stay up‑to‑date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and healthcare, and share knowledge with the team
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, and mentor team members to help them grow and develop
Qualifications
What you bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor team members and foster a collaborative and innovative team culture
- Strong project management skills with experience managing complex data engineering projects, including defining project scope, timelines, and deliverables, and managing project risks
- Strong Development skills in either Java, Python or Microsoft programming languages
- 7+ years of Database experience (SQL, Data Modelling) in Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL
- Some experience in data engineering, with a focus on designing, developing, and maintaining complex data pipelines and systems
- Some experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Flink, Airflow and Kafka
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders
- Passionate about learning and keeping up‑to‑date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and healthcare
Great-to-have
- Experience working in the healthcare industry, with in‑depth knowledge of healthcare data standards such as HL7 and FHIR, and experience working with electronic health records (EHRs) and other healthcare data sources
- PMP certification
Advanced knowledge of English is required, because you will, most of the time, interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.), interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.), as part of this position's main responsibilities, given its national scope.
Salary Range:
$110,000‑$166,000
Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan:
20%
