At OpenText, we are building the next-generation Information Management as a Service platform. The OpenText™ Cloud Platform (OCP) is the foundational bedrock that enables the development and deployment of multi-tenant, scalable SaaS applications used by thousands of enterprises worldwide.

This position is based in the OpenText office in Richmond Hill, Canada.

Your Impact:
As a Principal Software Architect on the OCP team, you will be the visionary and technical anchor for our platform engineering initiatives. This is more than an architecture role; it's an opportunity to set the technical strategy for a platform that powers digital transformation globally. You will influence the core of our cloud services, working at the intersection of innovation, scale, and reliability to solve some of our most complex challenges.

What the role offers:
In this role, your work will be pivotal to our success. You will:

• Define the Architectural Vision: Craft and champion the long-term architectural strategy and technical roadmap for the OpenText Cloud Platform, ensuring it is scalable, resilient, and secure.
• Design for Scale: Lead the design of large-scale, distributed systems and establish foundational patterns for microservices, event-driven architecture, and data-intensive applications.
• Drive Technical Excellence: Partner directly with senior engineering leaders and product managers to translate business objectives into robust technical solutions. You will lead architecture reviews, foster best practices, and raise the technical bar across the organization.
• Mentor and Inspire: Serve as a trusted advisor and mentor to senior engineers and technical leads, cultivating a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence.
• Champion Innovation: Evaluate and integrate cutting-edge technologies and trends, leading proof-of-concepts and innovation initiatives to keep our platform at the forefront of the industry.
• Lead Cross-Organizational Alignment: Influence and align technical decisions across global, distributed teams, ensuring architectural coherence and driving the adoption of platform capabilities.

What you need to succeed:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• A proven track record in software development and architecture, with extensive experience designing and delivering large-scale, distributed systems in a cloud environment.
• Experience in cloud computing architecture, technical design and cloud native application development leveraging IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS delivery models (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Deep, hands-on expertise in cloud-native technologies, including containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes), and a strong understanding of service mesh, API gateways, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Demonstrated ability in designing resilient, secure, and scalable APIs and microservices.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to executive stakeholders, engineers, and partners with clarity and conviction.
• A passion for mentoring and growing talent, with a leadership style that empowers teams.
• Familiarity with AI concepts and tools, including the ability to leverage pre-trained models or AI-powered services to enhance solutions and workflows.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum/Lean environments with a strong DevOps mindset.
