The Purchasing Control Coordinator will be responsible for the day to process purchasing transactions and maintain inventories of materials, equipment and stock.
Main Responsibilities
- Communicates with qualified suppliers to obtain current pricing information, quotations, and bids.
- Assists in follow-up to ensure proper delivery of goods and services.
- Review requisition orders for accuracy and verify that materials, equipment and stock are not available from current inventories
- Source and obtain price quotations from catalogues and suppliers and prepare purchase orders
- Calculate cost of orders and charge or forward invoices to appropriate accounts
- Process purchases within purchasing authority
- Contact suppliers to schedule deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed deliveries and other problems
- Prepare and maintain purchasing files, reports and price lists.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Review requisition orders for accuracy and verify that materials, equipment and stock are not available from current inventories
- Source and obtain price quotations from catalogues and suppliers and prepare purchase orders
- Calculate cost of orders and charge or forward invoices to appropriate accounts
- Process purchases within purchasing authority
- Contact suppliers to schedule deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed deliveries and other problems
- Prepare and maintain purchasing files, reports and price lists.

- Possess the ability to find quick solutions to unplanned changes and use creativity to resolve supply problems when they occur
- Organizational and planning skills, experience managing equally important and competing priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate computer literacy with Microsoft Office (Excel, Windows, Visio, Outlook) and an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software system
- The ability to read and understand engineered drawings
- Able to maintain a professional and calm demeanor in challenging situations
- Able to identify procedure and process improvements and advise the appropriate stakeholders
Experience and Education
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience purchasing in a heavy-duty service or automotive environment. Preference give to those with Heavy Haul Trailer experience.
- Experience with an ERP or database system. Experience with the system we use (Visual Manufacturing from Infor) would be an asset.
- Basic knowledge of Supply Chain and Accounting processes
- Experience communicating with various personality types and various levels of urgency and able to adjust personal style accordingly
- Completion of secondary school is usually required.
- Courses in purchasing, production and inventory management are an asset.
- Courses in and ability to operate a computerized inventory system may be required for inventory control workers.
Working Conditions
- The work performed is carried out indoors in a regulated environment
- Regular fast pace or work with tight deadlines
- Occasional long hours based on workload
Shift Availability
- Monday to Friday – 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
- Ability to work longer hours when needed
