About The Opportunity McDougall Energy is seeking an analytical and technically skilled IT professional to fulfill the position of Data Analyst . Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, this role collects, processes and analyzes large data sets and works with stakeholders to turn raw data into actionable insights that drive informed decisions across the McDougall Group of Companies.
- Gather data from multiple sources, such as databases, spreadsheets, cloud platforms, Application Programming Interfaces, and external data providers
- Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of data collected
- Review data for errors, inconsistencies, and missing values
- Transform data into structured formats suitable for analysis
- Apply statistical techniques to interpret data sets, paying attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics
- Summarize findings and create clear reports, charts, dashboards and other visual representations of data to make complex data digestible for stakeholders
- Track key performance indicators and create regular performance reports to monitor business outcomes
- Present findings to management, operations teams, or clients, translating complex data into simple narratives
- Ensure all data handling complies with relevant data protection and privacy laws, such as Personal Information Protection and Electronics Document Act (PIPEDA), Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), or Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS)
About You
- College Diploma or University Degree in an IT-related field such as Computer Sciences
- Experience in solution architecture, design, building and implementation of solutions
- Thrive in a highly collaborative workplace
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to streamline data collection, processes, improve data quality, analysis techniques and implement best practices for management
- Experience working with data analysis tools and programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, or SAS
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data visualization platforms, Tableau, Power BI, etc.
- Familiarity with databases, data warehousing concepts, and ETL processes
- Experience in Project Management techniques and phases
- Working knowledge of reporting tools within a SQL environment
- Knowledge of Informatica or other ETL tools is considered an asset
- Strong communication skills; both verbal and writtenv
