Senior Visual Designer

About the role

Project Overview: Purple, Rock, Scissors is supporting a leading consumer technology company in hiring a Senior Visual Designer to own visual craft and delight across their growth and marketing-facing surfaces. This role sits deliberately between the marketing design team (ads, events, brand) and the product design team (UX and interactive), bridging the two and making the product feel exciting, playful, and human rather than utilitarian. The work centers on the surfaces where people first encounter and re-engage with the brand: landing pages, campaigns, shareable moments, and high-visibility features that bring delight to everyday utility (for example, a feature where rating rent is made to feel like a game, bringing a humanistic touch to what would typically be a tedious task). Day to day, this designer shapes interactive, visually rich touchpoints that attract, convert, and re-engage users who are softly in the market, using bold typography, purposeful motion, and expressive micro-interactions as core problem-solving tools rather than finishing touches. They are product-literate and collaborate closely across product, engineering, data, and marketing, but their center of gravity is visual craft and brand expression, not deep systems work. They treat AI as a way to explore and move faster, while their portfolio shows authentic, authored craft. Above all, they bring genuine delight to the work: they know how to have fun with design, and it shows.

Logistics: Full-time, direct-hire role. Fully remote (Canada or US); Canadian work authorization required or USC/GC.

Required Qualifications: An exceptional eye for visual design and a genuine sense of delight: bold typography, playful micro-interactions, and expressive UI that feels fun and human. This is the bar that matters most. A portfolio of authored, visually exciting work (not just usable, and clearly the designer's own rather than templated or AI-generated) that demonstrates real craft, personality, and delight across growth and marketing surfaces. 4 to 6 years shipping consumer or B2C digital products, with strong work on growth and marketing-facing surfaces such as landing pages, campaigns, and engagement moments. Comfortable working between marketing and product design: fluent with brand and marketing partners, and able to create marketing surfaces, not just in-product UX. Mastery of Figma, including auto layout, components, variables, and prototyping. Motion and micro-interaction sensibility: can design and specify meaningful animations and interactions with a clear understanding of timing, easing, attention, and play. Brand design fluency: knows when to work within the brand system, when to evolve it, and how to articulate why. Product literacy and excellent collaboration across product, engineering, data, and marketing, while staying focused on craft rather than deep systems work. High agency, low maintenance: spots problems early, forms a point of view, and moves. Curious about AI design tools and actively using them to move faster, with craft and taste that are clearly their own.

Preferred Skills: Rive / Lottie / After Effects Cursor / Storybook / Claude Code / Vercel HTML / CSS / React Online marketplaces A/B testing and experimentation Lifecycle, landing-page, or growth-marketing design experience A track record of bringing delight to utilitarian features, turning everyday flows into engaging moments
